Just a Reminder He Loves me!

So It's Valentine's Day and me being the single Diva I am, I can't say I wanted to avoid the day or the couples and PDA...

I truly embrace the Day of love but...

My weekend was so great... I had an unique opportunity to see the
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Company (http://www.alvinailey.org);

It was awesome the seats were great (shouts to row 7) and my dates were awesome as well (Sherelle and Tiffany)
The Dancers were so powerful, they began with a Tribute to Otis Redding and ended the showing with a piece called "Love Stories" a unique blend of popular dances moves from theater to the dancehall
Not to mention the male dancers who illustrate exactly what the male form should look like and displayed it all so well while remaining tasteful and poised. I enjoyed every slow intentional moment!

Ok fast forward
V-day 2010

I began the day with the love of my life and expressing my gratitude for His continual love and mercy! I was reminded during the sermon that God loves me….Actively! Thank you God!

Got a few random text messages (ugh)

Continued with an awesome lunch with the ladies, which is always an adventure and the greatest conversation!

To the house I go Balloons and flowers for my mom, who always gets me a tangible expression of her love for V-day however this year she didn’t and it began my downward spiral into self afflicted internal wounds with thoughts like no one loves me, I should just go to sleep until Monday, etc . Not to mention someone is playing games with my heart and I just realized it and felt a lil stupid.

But then it hit me I am loved and loved well
I am beautiful and worthy of so much

God loves me so much that he does not allow just anything for me, so no day of any year should ever make me feel less than the Love God actively bestows upon me. He always provides the best (Alvin Ailey dancers row 7 yea) So I played Beautiful flower 3 times and I was reminded that GOD LOVES ME and I He!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

This is a song for every girl who's
Ever been through something she thought she couldn't make it through
I sing these words because
I was that girl too
Wanting something better than this
But who do I turn to

Now we're moving from the darkness into the light
This is the defining moment of our lives

'Cause you're beautiful like a flower
More valuable than a diamond
You are powerful like a fire
You can heal the world with your mind

There is nothing in the world that you cannot do
When you believe in you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient – India Arie (Beautiful Flower)

Man on my Mind: Cortland Finnegan

Where have you been hiding?

OK Ladies as I promised in the intro I will be sharing my thoughts on a few good men...
Our 1st featured man for the Month of February 2010 is:

Cortland Finnegan
(February Man on my Mind)

Born in Fayetteville, NC, 25 year old Finnegan stands a solid 5'9 weighing in at 188 is and He is such a cutie with a beautiful smile and playful personality (my observations on CMT Cribs)
He is definitely one for the eyes and interest!

Cortland was selected by the Tennessee Titans as the seventh pick of the seventh round (215th overall) his current position is Cornerback (Lady-note: A cornerback (aka corner) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary. Cornerbacks cover receivers, to defend against pass offenses and make tackles.)#

Honorable: Cortland has his own Foundation "The Cortland Finnegan ARK 31 Foundation" is a non-profit organization which aims to assist children with special needs and disabilities in Tennessee.

Interesting Fact about Finnegan: His mom is Irish

Why Cortland is the man on my mind: I peeped him on TV and fell in love with his personality, his emphasis on his Irish background stood out, his energy is high, age range, He is giving back and His birthday is February 2 (Happy Birthday) so I felt it necessary to feature him as the
February Man on my Mind
!

One Step in His Way

Why are things not going my way...

In the last few weeks I have found myself wondering what my next move should be?
What is best for me?
What do I want to do?
What does God want from me?
Why would He give me such a task?
Why am I afraid to do what He has asked me to do?
Why do I hesitate?
Why don't I trust in him more?

well, the first "Reality Check"
I don't spend enough time with him to get the answers and comfort, He is willing to give. (Different day - Different blog)

Secondly...

On Sunday Dec 13, 2009 I was asked , "If you were standing before Jesus, what do you think He would ask you to change in order to follow Him?

Immediately it came to me..He would ask me to give up "my way"

Strange.... well let me explain

All of my life I have been quite a unique character with a very direct point of view...

I consider myself to be very helpful however, whenever I am asked to do something I mean anything I usually get it done but I have to do it MY WAY.

Now this is not a "my way or the highway" type rebellion it is more of a "it would probably work better if I did it this way and in my time"

I have always been that way. I remember being a little girl every time someone taught me something I had to change it up and find a pattern that was right for me.

and as you would know it that mentality has ruled all areas of my life more recently my spiritual journey..

I had to do it my way...

GOD has been tugging at my heart for a long time to do what He has purposed me to do and as always I have been trying to do it my way I have tried to fit it into my list of things to accomplish in my time and my comfort zone ....

OK so that is not working because GOD IS NOT HAVING THAT! lol

So what I have decided to do was

Challenge myself to create better habits that would assist me in Following God the way He intended me to..

The Goals

Organize, plan, prepare, think critically, be open-minded, be timely, be internally-motivated, be consistent, lead and follow with flexibility

Challenge one:
Complete process for seminary
Progress:paid admissions and scheduled Spring Classes

Tight and Right

OK Ladies

Summer is gone and as much as we all claimed we were going to get in shape this summer a lot of US dropped the ball...So guess what it's time to get back on the fitness track

Action Plan:
1) Consult your Physician to ensure you are in good health and will not harm any thing while exercising
Prime example, If you are asthmatic we would not want you running 5 miles without proper conditions and medical precautions

2) Plan an exercise time that works best with your personality!
For instance, I am not a morning person so morning workout are out for me and I am at my highest energy level in the evening after work. so i work out after work!

3) Pick a program that works with your energy and attention span!
For instance, I have a short attention span and high energy in short spurts so i
need a program that will be short and to the point, as well as fun and keeps my
attention. i.e. Zumba, 1 hour classes with focus (Pilates) (Yoga) (Circuit
Training)

4) Think about what works for your schedule;

As women we are forever multi-tasking so think of ways to exercise while
doing other things...

Not that busy... OK maybe you are watching your favorite show find some moves
you can do while watching TV or sitting

I work on my abs and back on my yoga mat during commericals and use the core
strengthening ball (search Bally Total Fitness Core Sculpting System) to sit on and work some other muscles while the show is on!!

5) Try some new equipment
I have recently purchased a new core sculpting system it is an exercise ball, weighs, resistance cords and a stability ring which gives me several options and workout moves with minimum equipment also i bought an 8 lb sculpting ball and some DVDs to walk me through the use of all i bought

6) Partner up
With almost anything you chose to do it always helps if you only had a little push from someone. It give you an accountability partner and causes you to go harder. so grab a friend or co-worker and get started

7) what are you eating?
Exercising should be paired up with new eating habits. I am not saying to go crazy with diets and cut backs but simply LEARN to make better choices...

Eat correct portions;
eat 5-6 times a day try 3 meals and 2 snacks; Fiber is your friend

Take your vitamins (Centrum complete is a good one but there are others...suggestions welcome)

Drink WATER as much as you can

8) Commit
it has been said that if you do something for 21 days it becomes a new habit
pick an exercise regime and stick to it...

9) Be healthy: Please do not go nuts and start doing excessive exercising... in all things do them in moderation and make sure that you are focused on living healthy and not short term beauty and vanity <-- no really
